Healthy activity starts early in 2012 for students at Bradford District High School thanks to funding from the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport! |
Over 160 students from Bradford District High School will be participating in an OFSAA program, supported by the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and Sport on Wednesday January 11th. This ‘Try Day’ program is a province wide initiative to increase participation at the Grade 9 level. All BDHS students currently taking Health and Physical Education will participate in fitness circuits combining dynamic plyometric movements. Each circuit will meet required daily physical activity levels. The ‘Try Day’ event is an effort to motivate students to enjoy and incorporate physical activity into their lifestyle. This event was made possible thanks to funding from the Ontario Ministry with their $700 grant. Teachers were able to purchase new equipment including BOSU balls, resistance bands, and heart rate monitors. Several students have never been afforded the chance to use this type equipment, and as such, the day should be a learning experience as well as a good workout.
